Jul 21, 2025

Pointe-des-Cascades, Canada, July 9, 2025Synapses Games, the Canadian board game publisher founded by Carl Brière, today announced the acquisition of the intellectual property rights to the two-player sci-fi card game Compile. Synapses Games will continue to support the existing editions and community of Compile and collaborate with designer Michael Yang to ensure the game’s long-term success.

Compile challenges players to draft and deploy themed Protocol decks, such as Fire, Gravity and Psychic, in a lane-based duel of resource management and tactical card play. The game’s rogue-agent narrative and cyberpunk-inspired aesthetic bring an extra layer of atmosphere to every match. Since its debut at Gen Con 2024, the game has earned praise for its innovative system and strategic depth, inspiring a dedicated fan base around the world. Compile: Main 1 was also honored as Best Fixed Constructable Game at the 48th Annual Origins Awards, underscoring its breakthrough design and community impact.

“We’re honored to continue Compile’s journey for its designer and dedicated community,” said Carl Brière, Publisher at Synapses Games. “Our goal is to ensure continuity, grow the player base and help Compile achieve the success it truly deserves.”

Designer Michael Yang added, “I'm very fortunate to have another experienced team to work on Compile. New perspectives, expertise, and passion are powerful ingredients for making better games.

Synapses Games also confirms that Compile: Main 2, the eagerly awaited second core set featuring all-new Protocol decks, is arriving in late 2025 and will ship worldwide through its established distribution network. Additionally, Main 2 will be demoed at Gen Con 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana, at Luma Imports’ booth (#3039) from July 31 through August 3.

Supporting the Compile community by giving players the chance to explore new Protocol synergies is very important to us,” said Brière. “Having Main 2 available for demo at Gen Con is something we’ve been eager to make happen.”

Further details on preorders and community events will be shared in the coming weeks.
